Add Items in your Shopp Store to your Cart via a URL

by Lorenzo Orlando Caum on November 1, 2012

Today we’ll share a recently re-introduced query for adding items to your cart via URL.

You’ll need to be running at least Shopp 1.2.3 but applications for this are endless.

Want to add an item to your cart from any page on your site? You can do that.

Want to add an item and skip the cart and go to directly to checkout. You can do that too.

Lets get started. First we’ll have a look at a site URL samplesite.com. Next we’ll identify the storefront URL which for this site is samplesite.com/shop/

The storefront URL will be the starting point. Now we can combine it with the query:

samplesite.com/shop/?cart=add&product=id

Display Select Categories of Products on your Storefront Page

by Lorenzo Orlando Caum on October 1, 2012

By default, the Shopp storefront page (yoursite.com/shop/) is set to display all products in your store.

This is done via the catalog.php which is located here:
wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder/shopp/catalog.php.

If you open the file, you’ll see an API call for shopp (‘storefront’,’catalog-products’). If we want to show a different category or categories, then we can replace catalog-products which a different set of calls.

For example, lets say that we have a category called Blue Widgets and another category called Green Widgets. Blue Widgets has a category id of 123 and Green Widgets has a category id of 456. Click here to continue reading →

Configure Shopp to Skip the Cart Page

by Lorenzo Orlando Caum on September 27, 2012

On some Shopp projects, you’ll discover that the store’s purpose is to sell a single product or a small variety of products. In this case, you could get by without the Cart page since a storefront with a variety of categories would not be needed.

The shopping experience would change from:

Add to Cart –> Cart Page –> Checkout Page –> Thank You (Receipt) Page

to

Add to Cart –> Checkout Page –> Thank You (Receipt) Page

There are a couple places where you can configure this:

  • If you want to skip the Cart page for all the products, then you would need to edit the product.php content template.
  • If you want to skip the Cart page for only certain products, then you would create product specific content templates.

For this tutorial, we’ll be covering the first option. Click here to continue reading →
